DESCRIPTION:Minchinhampton Youth Centre\nSaturday December 10th\n10am-12pm\nFor ages 6-11 years\nIn the dark world of shadow puppets\, light is precious. It can make you seem huge or tiny\, it can make objects come to life\, it can turn you bright green or appear that you are under water. Come into the shadows and play with yours. We will learn how overhead projection works in shadow puppetry\, and then build moving characters out of paper to make a colourful and wacky light show. Take skills home to build a shadow puppet theatre out of a lamp and a bed sheet.\nSusie Showers has been creating shadow puppet theatre since 2010\, when she wanted to combine her love of art\, poetry\, music and performance into something unique and enchanting. She has performed and run classes in England\, Thailand\, Australia and Canada. She lives in Toronto\, working with vulnerable inner-city populations using art as a platform to give them a voice. She loves creating colourful projector installations for events\, and delightfully curious puppetry cabaret.

Tom works professionally as a fight director and  stage combat instructor across the UK. He is an Associate Practitioner for the Royal Shakespeare Company\, teaching for a number of departments\, and is an associate tutor at Guildford School of Acting. He has taught for Theatre Royal Bath\, The Everyman Theatre (Cheltenham) and St. Davids Hall (Cardiff) among a host of other establishments. He is a regular Stage Combat instructor at University of Northampton and the University of Gloucestershire. As a teacher he is validated by Equity recognised teaching organisation\, The APC (Academy of Performance Combat – http://www.theapc.org.uk/) and also holds a teaching certificate with the BADC. \nMinchinhampton Youth Centre\nFor ages 8-13 years\n1pm-3pm\n£15 per child \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Saturday Drama Club will return for a 4 week course with guest Drama Specialist ‘Carrie-Jean Mason’. \nMinchinhampton Youth Centre\nFor children aged 6-11 years\nFour sessions which can be booked independantly at a cost of  £10 per child per session. \n“I started acting at the age of 5 at Jill Woods Dance and Drama classes. I also took part in many amateur dramatics groups. Including the playhouse in Stroud\, Minchinhampton and the Everyman Theatre\, which took me to perform at the London National. I was chosen at the age of 12 to professionally star in Tim Rice’s Princess and the Goblins. I achieved A * at drama and theatre studies and went on to study Media and Performance at The University of Salford. I then went back to teach there for two years\, students included the likes of Jason Manford. I landed my first big role with Mark and lard from BBC’s Radio one\, in a comedy sketch show called ‘Having a Pop’. When I was 23 I wrote and performed a show at Edinburgh festival.  In 2015 I was offered a part in a film by the London film school\, which won second at Cannes and Toronto. And I am lucky enough now to be part of The Cotswold Casting Agency\, who have me on there books and keep me very busy. I am super excited to be part of Dazzle\, and the workshops we are creating for you all.  I am looking forward to meeting everyone.” Thank you Carrie-Jean \n  \n

The big cats stop the hunting for one night only to celebrate the marriage but how will this work out?\nDazzle needs actors\, artists\, dancers and singers to bring their individuality\, ideas and creativity.\nThe experience begins when a workshop pack arrives by post with lots of details of the three days and optional activities to do before the workshop. The mornings of the three days will be spent creating scenery inspired by the African landscape and props for your character. DESCRIPTION:BOYZ DANCE CLUB\nA boys only dance course for young boys aged 5-11. Exploring creative and dynamic routines\, getting outdoors\, using up energy and providing a physical and creative experience. \nBoys need their own space to feel safe to express themselves\, their emotions\, energy\, dynamics and their creativity. There are lots of boys who want to dance and Dazzle feels very passionate about making this opportunity for them! \n“My son loves dancing but he won’t go to a dance class?” To be honest\, I don’t blame them. As a dance teacher\, this is what I hear the most from parents\, frustrated because they want to provide an outlet for their son to learn some new skills doing something he enjoys. \nI aim to make Dazzles dance classes an active\, non-gender\, athletic and fresh experience for everyone. But peer pressure and pre-conceptions from such a young age are just too hard to battle against. As most dance clubs are full of girls they\, therefore\, cater to the majority who attend\, influencing the dance styles\, music and costume choices. I have been guilty of this in the past. Most boys will simply not walk through the door when they see a blur of pink and Little Mix blaring from the music system! Just as we see the benefits of girls training and competing separately in sport\, boys also need their own space to explore dance. Get them on a football pitch or a park\, use props such as basketballs\, swords or scooters. \nOver the years there have been inspirations and role models who have made it acceptable\, accessible and cool for boys and men to dance\, Gene Kelly\, Fred Astaire\, Billy Elliott\, Diversity\, George Sampson and Strictly Come Dancing. Boys love the competition\, the judges\, the creativity\, the costumes and the dancing on Strictly!  But they also see the skill\, the physical strength\, the competitive spirit and the respect the men gain. \n“Dance is a physical and athletic activity requiring great skill\, strength\, and agility. Sounds like an ideal fit for energetic boys… so where are they?? In general\, the current perception is that dance is not a “manly” activity. Men who dance must be in top physical form but the beauty and elegance masks the blood\, sweat\, and tears it seems we like to see from men in our culture. Therefore\, the grittier athletic activities are favoured for boys\, while dance is considered a better pursuit for girls. SUMMARY:Kids Outdoor Shakespeare week 2
DESCRIPTION:These unique outdoor sessions at Minchinhampton Youth Centre with small groups are aimed at introducing and inspiring children to the amazing world of Shakespeare in a relaxed\, safe and fun way. A fantastic opportunity for children in school years 2-5 who have not yet returned to school. \nThose booked on to the first session will have priority to book any remaining weeks. The groups on week two will have fun exploring the Elizabethan language\, working on fantastic translated scenes from ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Toy Story’! The session will also include a themed craft activities such as ruff making and sword decorating and an optional pieces to work on and enjoy at home. Any craft activities will be prepared and stored three days in advance. There will be gazebos for shade from the sun or rain. DESCRIPTION:Children need to play\, move freely and express their individuality.\nChildren want to have fun\, be spontaneous and escape from reality.\nIf your child loves to boogie at home\, would love to be introduced to and try lots of different dance styles\, enjoys learning new routines but does not want the pressure of performing and gradings.. the Dazzle Dance Club could be perfect! \nA Dazzle Dance Club is for boys and girls in school years R-6 and introduces a new dance style every 1-2 weeks. These can include bhangra\, street dance\, jive\, cheerleading\, tango\, musical theatre\, cha cha\, breakdance\, chairography\, tutting or famous routines from history such as Thriller\, Singing in the Rain or Saturday Night Fever. The group will explore the beats\, rhythm\, music and history of each dance genre while developing a routine\, including the children’s ideas.\nEach class includes a fun warm up fitness game and finishes with a closing stretching activity.\nOn-line dance videos and yoga cards are included during the course. \nYou can also choose to purchase a Dance Prop Kit which includes a bundle of fun equipment the children will use during the first 6 week dance club up to October half term. The children will be provided with individual props during the class so the kit is not essential but it enables your child to continue and develop the dance styles and routines at home.\nThere are 10 Dance Prop Kits available for the first course. \nPlease note that we require a weeks cancellation before the course start date notice to receive a refund.
